Blue Chip (Itheon’s parent company) is in the final process of building Europe’s most Energy Efficient Data Centre. This will be our 3rd and largest Data Centre in the UK - built with resilience and energy efficiency at the forefront of its design and it will come online in March 2010.
The 5 acre freehold site in Bedford will house up to 600 racks supported by the highest levels of resilience and security. The 2MW facility will be cooled entirely by CRECS (computer room evaporative coolers) and is expected to have a PUE of 1.1 which will make it the most energy efficient data centre in Europe.
Blue Chip has also become the UK’s first company to benefit from the new upper level £500,000 Carbon Trust grant as well as partnering with The Marston Vale Trust to offset the carbon footprint of the new datacenter.

New product support for OS/400

We are pleased to announce support for OS/400. Blackbird has been designed to provide generic monitoring software to facilitate the management and operational requirements of i-Series machines.
Blackbird consists of two parts, a client that is running on the “Source” system, and a host that is running on the “Target” system. The client performs all the monitoring tasks and then forwards information to the host. Blackbird can also forward events into Itheon’s EDA event management system and Business Service Management solution. This and other news is contained within our newsletter here.

Established in 1987 as a specialist company to provide IT support services for IBM Midrange users, Blue Chip have grown organically to become the largest independent IBM Midrange specialist in the UK.

Itheon releases iAM:Consoles 2007 V2

Itheon is pleased to announce iAM:Consoles 2007 V2. In conjunction with V1 this release also utilises technology licensed from world class console management specialist, TecSys Development Inc.

Itheon releases iAM:Consoles 2007

Itheon today announces the release of iAM:Consoles 2007. This version is the first of many releases that will now use TecSys Development Inc. (TDi) software to provide the core console management functions.
"This is a big win for our companies and our customers as we will spend our efforts promoting a single console solution to the customer base which will now have support for HP-UX, Solaris, AIX and OpenVMS. Previous versions of iAM:Consoles ran exclusively on Windows, lacked a web client interface and full Sarbanes-Oxley compliance" said Bill Johnson ( CEO TecSys).

GlassHouse Technologies, Inc. Using Itheon Technology to Provide Storage Allocation Tracking Service
Itheon announced that it provides the technology that underpins Glasshouse's storage allocation tracking service.
The service provides automated reports reflecting the true quantity of allocated storage, avoiding the confusion of double or triple-counting mirrored servers and duplicated copies. This allows the customer to understand exactly how their storage is allocated so they can better optimise efficiency, apply appropriate charge-backs and improve service levels.

Itheon has supported local University of Hertfordshire for many years and this year has offered placements to two of the Universities brightest students.
Javed Mir has joined Itheon's Technical Team as a full-time Developer and has a Honours Degree in Computer Science, graduated last year. Daniel Winn has joined Itheon's Technical Team for one year as a Developer. Daniel is currently studying a BSc Honours Degree course in Computer Science.

Sun partners and platinum sponsors, Itheon were very well received at this year's SunLive event in March.
The event, which ran over three days in central London, was attended by over 1000 delegates who flocked to hear an impressive line-up of speakers including leading BBC journalist Andrew Marr. Itheon were supporting Sun's Private Utility Solution in conjunction with Business Service Management providers, Managed Objects.
The solution, which enables IT Managers to gain valuable insight into their operations by providing full transparency of Compute and Storage operations gained a great deal of interest by customers who were looking to measure, monitor and manage utilisation, performance, allocation and consumption.
